In a recent feature by HOT 97, actress and director Naturi Naughton-Lewis shared insights from her appearance at the third installment of the PLLRS Speaker Series, held at Soho Works in Brooklyn. During the event, Naughton-Lewis opened up about her decade-long tenure on the Starz series Power and its spinoff Power Book II: Ghost, revealing her unfulfilled aspiration to direct an episode of the franchise.

“I was on Power for six years, and then four years on Power Book II: Ghost. I did 10 years of a show that went on and on, and I begged to direct an episode and never got the opportunity,” Naughton-Lewis shared. “That felt very hurtful, and it was frustrating.”

In response to these challenges, Naughton-Lewis and her husband, film producer Two Lewis, launched their own production company, Take Two Entertainment. Their projects include the short film 333, featured at the American Black Film Festival, and The Color Book, showcased at the Tribeca Film Festival. They are also co-producing the off-Broadway play Duke & Roya, starring Jay Ellis.

The PLLRS Speaker Series continues to spotlight influential voices in the entertainment industry, providing a platform for candid discussions on creative journeys and industry challenges.
